Founded in response to increasing concerns about marine mammal strandings and their health, MMAN focuses on education and rescue efforts. Educating the public about safe distancing and sharing the shore helps reduce the number of rescues necessary, but also helps alert us to more animals in need.

The organization collaborates with local, state, and federal agencies and network partners to monitor marine mammal populations, provide training for volunteers, and raise awareness about the challenges these creatures face, including habitat degradation, climate change, human interaction and disease.
